The ITAE building is a hybrid between offices and an industrial building.
The building is generated from the perversion of the common type of industrial building. We start from the basic ship form conceived from a purely economic and functional logic and on it we carry out the minimum actions necessary to provide the building with the required use and representativeness.
The opening of a large atrium marks the entrance and shows a powerful interior that spills outward to receive the visitor. The yellow interior is a floating piece that collects the uses of reception, accompaniment and meeting with the client. The rest of the building is inaccessible to the visitor. On the roof of that piece there is an interior garden for workers’ recreation linked to the dining and leisure area.
The north facade is replaced by a veil that sifts the light, opens views and preserves the confidentiality of the work. To this facade the uses of work, office and dining room are opened looking for the best lighting.
The materials used also start from the economic and functional logic of the common ship typology but modified to acquire new qualities: color, depth, transparency, rhythm … The result is a building that using the same language of its environment tells a different story.
